How to Install a Starter Solenoid on a Polaris ATV

Follow these steps to install a Starter Solenoid on a Polaris ATV:

1. Remove the belt/clutch covers and left foot well using the screwdriver.
2. Utilizing the socket wrench, remove the driven and drive clutches. The driven clutch will slip off of a spline with little resistance.
3. With the socket wrench, replace the backing of the clutch housing. Remove the three bolts from the primary clutch and another three from the transmission shaft.
4. Between the motor and the transmission, find the starter. With the socket wrench, remove the two bolts holding the starter motor to the motor, then gently tap it back. It’ll be able to escape its hole. After removing the positive cable, remove it from the starter.
5. Reassemble the lower portion of the engine by setting the new starter in its position, reattaching the wire, and doing steps 1 through 4 in reverse. Try out the ATV by turning it on.
